In a shaker half filled with ice, pour the vodka, the cognac, the orange juice and the grenadine.

Shake hard, pour into a cocktail glass, top up with the champagne and garnish with a cherry.

Note that you can have this cocktail served with a real 1-carat ruby instead of the cherry by Pete Gugni, manager of the "Reserve" club in Chicago.
